Adoption Counselling for Adult Adoptees – How I Work
As an adoptee therapist, I offer a warm, relational space for adult adoptees across the UK. My approach is grounded in trust, compassion and attunement, supporting exploration of adoption trauma, identity, belonging and self-worth as part of adoption counselling for adults.
At the heart of my work is relationship. We pay attention to what feels safe, respectful and real between us, because healing often begins when connection can be trusted. From here, we can explore what has been held inside, with compassion and curiosity.
I work collaboratively rather than prescriptively. You are welcome to bring whatever feels relevant - past experiences, present struggles or what shows up in the moment. My role is to be alongside you, reflecting, asking gentle questions and supporting you to notice what arises in therapy as an adult adoptee.
My practice includes Internal Family Systems (IFS), a compassionate approach that helps us meet your inner experience with curiosity rather than judgement. This can create space to understand and soften long-held patterns, allowing what has been protected or hidden to come into awareness safely.
Sessions are usually weekly and can be open-ended or time-limited. We’ll find a rhythm that supports depth, connection and steadiness for you.
Therapy can be a place to notice what you’ve carried alone, and to let those hidden parts be welcomed into connection.
